Ukraine, "the world's leading seed oils exporter"
Ukraine is the world's biggest exporter of sunflower seeds and oils. Ukraine’s sunflower seeds and oil exports are being slightly affected by the ongoing war with Russia. As compared to FY 2022, there was a decline of 6% in the exports during fiscal year 2023. According to Ukraine import export data reports, the country's sunflower seeds and oil exports were recorded to be 5 billion dollars this year while it was 5.5 billion dollars in 2022. Sunflower seeds and oils were the most exported items from Ukraine during last year. Ukraine's majority of the seed oil exports went to Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Hungary. Ukraine's exports share wise, Bulgaria (32%), Romania (20%), Turkey (15%) and Hungary (13.5%) were the top seed oil exporters in the world. Also, some of the fastest growing markets for Ukraine's seed oils exports were Moldova, France, Poland, Spain, Croatia and Poland.
